WALKING ON LEVEL GROUND
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Psalm 143:10
In 2023, Pastors Paul and Jennifer DeHaan heard a call from the Lord to start a coffee shop to raise funds for missions. They opened the doors to Level Ground in December and have supported three global projects so far.
In February and March, they chose one of Lifting up Zion’s partner ministries, City of Life Ministries in S’derot, Israel to send funds for war relief efforts. Level Ground raised $3,407.77 and presented the check to Lifting up Zion on April 15.
While media attention is shifting to other things around the world, thousands in Israel remain displaced from their homes.
We are privileged to support Messianic outreaches in Israel who are serving those in need.
Thank you for continuing to support Messianic Jewish ministries during the war.
Level Ground Coffee is located at 1116 Oak St. in Conway, Arkansas.
CITY OF LIFE
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14
One mile from the border. That is where S’Derot Israel sits. It is the home of City of Life Ministries, and on October 7, 2023, Pastors Michael and Dina Beener awoke to the sound of sirens.
They looked outside their window to see terrorists running through the streets of their city. What they heard next were cries and screams from the streets. In just one day, everything changed.
City of Life Ministries is a thriving ministry that has experienced significant growth. Beginning with just four members in 2009, the group grew exponentially. In 2018, an official survey reported that 55 people, including 15 children, were a part of City of Life.
So, when the war forced an evacuation of S’Derot, the ministry’s leaders had to work quickly to adjust their outreach efforts.
What they discovered after two weeks of evacuation was that 5,000 people, some disabled, stayed in S’derot, so Michael and Dina Beener and their team have worked tirelessly both in and outside the war-torn city to provide support for Israelis.
The ministry conducts local outreaches to the elderly, immigrants, and Holocaust survivors, as well as various feeding programs and community concerts. Food, heaters, adult diapers, and blankets are just a few of the practical things City of Life provides to Israelis in need.
For Passover, the congregation hosted a community-wide Seder so that those who were displaced could connect with the tradition and familiarity of the beloved Jewish tradition.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your unwavering support of Israel’s Messianic Jewish community during this challenging time. Your support is a beacon of hope for those standing with Israel.
