Jerusalem On Fire

And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the Lord, and I will be the glory in her midst.
Zechariah 2:5

On April 30, headlines announced that Jerusalem was on fire. This fire was not the spiritual fire we would hope and pray for, but a vicious fire of destruction that threatened life and property. Word shortly came out that arsonists were responsible for the outbreak.

Just a few months ago I was in Jerusalem. Tragedies hit home in a unique way when you are familiar with the places affected. Unfortunately, most major news carriers did not report on the fires. Israel asked for international help, but it is not clear to me at the time of my writing this that anyone responded with assistance.

I am grateful for your financial support of Israel’s Messianic Jewish community. When tragedy strikes, many of the ministries we support in Israel jump to help the nation. Their faithfulness to offer support during tough times is slowly leading to open doors and favor with local governments and authorities.

I hope that next time you read the headline, “Jerusalem on Fire,” that it is a spiritual fire of revival that is sweeping the world from the epicenter of God’s heartbeat. Until that time, thank you for your faithful support of Lifting up Zion.

Your support helps us spread the word about Israel’s Messianic Jewish community and financially support the work of the Lord in Israel.

Love Your Jewish Neighbor

Last month, I participated in a webinar called Love Your Jewish Neighbor. It was a beautiful virtual gathering of believers from all over the world who united to pray for Israel and the Jewish people.

As you are likely aware, antisemitism has reached alarming rates since the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack against Israel. Just last month, an Israeli-American was captured, tortured, then beaten to death in the Los Angeles area – an egregious act of antisemitism on American soil.

The threat is not just abroad, it is right here.

But the good news is, there is something we can do to help. Love Your Jewish Neighbor is an organization of Messianic Jews and Christians united to stand against antisemitism together. They have a number of resources available on their website to equip you to stand against antisemitism in your local area. Some of the things they teach you to do include:

  • Report antisemitic incidents
  • Support Holocaust education
  • Support Jewish-owned businesses
  • Challenge biases
  • Vote responsibly

These are just a few of the things you will learn to do when you engage with Love Your Jewish Neighbor. In addition, they have prayer resources to help you pray specific, targeted prayers for Israel and your local Jewish community.

I hope that you will join me in engaging with Love Your Jewish Neighbor. Our Jewish neighbors need to know that they have friends in the Christian community. To learn more visit their website: https://www.loveyourjewishneighbor.com.

Thank you for being a good neighbor to your Jewish friends.
