On February 6, AG News published an article featuring our work to provide war relief efforts to Israel. Here is an excerpt from the story:
When Israel was victimized by a terrorist attack late last year, Kitchen knew that Lifting Up Zion needed to help in whatever way it could.
Upon hearing of the attack, Kitchen sent a call to action to everyone on her email list and to all of her newsletter subscribers asking for donations to aid Israel.
“We started receiving donations from all over and within a few months we had sent almost $20,000 to cities in Israel,” she says. “These funds went to humanitarian aid to help displaced people, to pop-up schools for children to continue their education during the war, and to ministries who were sharing the love of Jesus to soldiers fighting on the front lines.”

Meet Aviv Ministry
After Israel was attacked on October 7, 2023, Lifting up Zion jumped into action to support Messianic ministries in Israel, providing assistance to those displaced by the war. We quickly became acquainted with Aviv Ministry, run by Dov and Olga Bikas.
Aviv Ministry is located in Tel Aviv and assists the local communities through a rehab center, women’s shelter, food distribution projects, and congregational ministry. A significant portion of Lifting up Zion’s war relief efforts has been distributed through the Aviv Ministry.
We received a praise report regarding the ministry’s tireless efforts to assist those impacted by the war. Here is a story to encourage you:
Last month there was a meeting in Ashkelon, where awards and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the city volunteers. Eduard and his team [representatives of Aviv Ministry] were awarded with certificates from the mayor and vice mayor of Ashkelon, and also received gratitude from the former Minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman for their war relief efforts during the first months of the war. We are very happy and praise the Lord that this ministry has become a good testimony of God’s love and care not only to the needy people of Ashkelon, but also to its authorities.
It is a great blessing that the mayor and vice mayor of Ashkelon recognized this Messianic ministry. Messianic ministries do not always have favor with governmental leaders, but as they faithfully serve their communities with the love of Yeshua, doors like this one open. We thank God that we had the opportunity to partner with Aviv Ministry to assist the residents of Ashkelon.
