Imagine you had an older brother that your parents never told you about. Finding out would be quite a surprise and likely trigger a line of questions. We naturally tend to care about our relatives.

When Christians ask why they should care about Israel, especially Messianic Jews, I think this comparison fits. In God’s family, Israel is like our older brother. We should care because we are related.

Paul uses an Olive Tree metaphor to describe how people from all nations and tongues worldwide have come to join the family of faith. We join the family of God by being grafted in with the remnant of Israel, the Messianic Jews (Rom. 11).

Who are the Messianic Jews? What is their history? And what is their role in the body of Messiah today? We will begin a series of teachings that answer these questions to continue through the end of the year.

Next month, we will begin with “What is Messianic Judaism?” I encourage you to send your questions to akaya@liftingupzion.org so I can answer them in the upcoming newsletters.
