Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.
Isaiah 46:8-11 ESV
God is like no one else. He is able to declare what will happen in the end from the very beginning of time. He is able to declare the end result of a person’s life from the beginning of it.
We see that it is true of Him in the life of Abraham.
The Lord told Abraham that He would bless those who bless him and curse those who dishonor him, and that all of the nations on earth would be blessed through him (Genesis 12:3).
So Abraham set out on a journey to a place where he did not know he was going (Hebrews 11:8). Abraham ended up dying in faith, “not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar…” (Hebrews 11:13).
However, we know that the Lord did do what He promised Abraham He would do. He raised up Israel, delivered them from Egypt, placed them in their own land, and eventually sent the promised Messiah to bless all the families and nations of the earth.
The Lord has certainly done what He promised Abraham. What should we think of this same God, who is true and faithful, who cannot lie, who speaks and thens brings it to pass? Why wouldn’t we think that He will certainly do everything He has promised? Even to bring salvation to Israel?
To those who are stubborn, He says:
Listen to me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from righteousness: I bring near my righteousness; it is not far off, and my salvation will not delay; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory.
Isaiah 46:12-13
The Lord is faithful, He will do what He has said, and He will accomplish what He has purposed. He will certainly bring His righteousness to Israel, He will most certainly put His salvation in Zion.
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Numbers 23:19
Israel will be saved. We know that because God has said it.
