And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15 ESV

Of all the things the Bible says about prayer, I find this one particularly fascinating.  The scriptures indicate that we can pray to the Father with the ability to know that we will receive what we ask of Him.

There are two key elements of prayer that allow us to pray with that kind of confidence.  The first is asking according to God’s will.

#1 Ask according to God’s will

While many situations in life might leave us wondering what God’s will is in different situations and happenings of life, there are some situations where we do not have to wonder, because He has already made His will clear in His Word.

We know that it is the will of God that the Israelites are saved, because He declared they will be in His word.

So, when we pray for the salvation of Israel, we can pray with confidence, knowing that we are asking according to His will, so God hears us.

This is precisely the second element of prayer that allows us to pray with the confidence described in 1 John 5.

#2 Know God hears you

When we pray knowing, absolutely sure, that God hears us, we are praying with a great amount of faith.  We can ask, as James described of someone asking for wisdom:

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.  For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
James 1:6-7 ESV

When we ask doubting, we shouldn’t suppose that we will receive anything from the Lord.  But when we ask in faith, we can suppose that we will receive what we ask of Him.

I encourage you to pray confidently as you pray for the salvation of Israel!  We know it is the will of God.  Let us pray fully convinced that it is God’s will, that He hears us, and that we will receive what we ask of Him!
